Every year, millions of people visit Britain, move here, study here or begin a new chapter of their lives in the United Kingdom. Yet many quickly discover that understanding Britain is not always straightforward. Guidebooks can tell you where to visit. Universities can tell you where to register. Official websites can explain rules and regulations. But they rarely explain everyday Britain. Mei has just arrived in York from China to begin her postgraduate studies.
